CAPSTONE PROJECT
Our Capstone project is targeted to help prevent vehicle collisions caused by the use of texting and driving, specifically social media use. We hope to created a physical product that could access your phone usage. This will be done through an app that could be downloaded on your phone. We plan to code and create an app to goes with the physical product. The product will block the use of apps and only authorize important calls instead of messages. Below is link to our Capstone research.
Prototype Design Documentation
Sketch
Figure 1
These are sketches of our physical product. They include dimensions to make sure the phone will fit. Figure 2 represents a sketch of a cell phone that is placed into the sleeve. While figure 1 is the overall product. Specific dimensions were taken on all parts of the phone (ports, speakers, screens.) to enable us to create a CAD prototype that will fit the model phone. These were drawn in birds eye view of the phone screen and of the bottom. (Samsung Galaxy S7) sketch.

3D CAD MODEL
Our CAD model is a representation of each component that is included into our physical product. We wanted to include a mount for the smart phone that could be used for GPS, calls, reminders, or anything important while driving. They include dimensions to the case mount both front and back as well as the stand. These dimensions provide us the ideal size of our phone mount. The mount includes buttons on the side so users are allowed to turn off or on their phone, lower or upper there sound, and charge there phone.

Mentor Information
Sara West from Mammoth Media
We met our mentor, Sara West from Mammoth Media, on a zoom meeting. We presented our problem statement and overall progress. Her initial reaction to the idea was overall good. From her lengthy background in coding she believed that our plan wasn’t impossible and was glad to give us advice on what types of coding software to use. A few other suggestions Ms. West made was the idea of creating a navigation extension, for example on google ways, which would be different from a stand alone app, but would operate the same functions as our initial application. Ms. West recommended we create our extension using the software GO and she also provided us a link to help us get familiar with building up our idea.

Capstone Update
Our group is currently getting different quotes to 3D print our physical product. We plan to 3D print our physical product using the cheapest plastic material. Secondly, we met up with our mentor to guide us on our google extension. Some advice our mentor gave us was to use Andriod's software to program our extension and to download google's API key to start programming. Below is a video that explains more.
